The Department of Political Science at California State University, Northridge, invites applications for a tenure-track position, at the level of Assistant Professor with specialization in International Relations, and a secondary area of specialization in Methodology or Comparative Politics. While area specialization within IR is open, the international relations of the Middle East and East Asia are already covered in the Department. Applicants must have Ph. D. in hand, or near completion, at time of appointment. Applicants who do not have a Ph.D. at time of appoint-ment will be appointed as a one-year lecturer, converted to tenure track at completion of the doctorate. A Ph.D. is required for the granting of tenure. The candidate must have a strong dedication to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population. CSUN is a Learning Centered University. The successful candidate will be expected to join faculty and staff in a commitment to active learning, to the assessment of learning outcomes, and to multiple pathways that enable students to graduate. At time of appointment the successful applicant, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from Immigration and Naturalization Services to work within the United States. Applicants should submit a letter of application, vitae, three current letters of recommendation, evidence of teaching evaluations and sample publications. For full consideration, application materials should be received by October 24, 2005. Screening will begin then and continue until the position is filled.
