[Department Website][APSA elisting(requires membership)] TWO POSITIONS (SUBJECT TO ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL): ASSISTANT PROFESSOR International Relations/Comparative Politics; ASSISTANT PROFESSOR Maritime Environmental Policy APPROXIMATE STARTING DATE: AUGUST 1, 2006 FOR FULL CONSIDERATION, APPLICATION AND DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE RECEIVED BY DECEMBER 1, 2005 HOWEVER, POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED The Program in Global Studies and Maritime Affairs, Department of Global and Maritime Studies, invites applications for up to two full-time tenure-track positions at the level of Assistant Professor in: · Comparative Politics/International Relations with an area emphasis on the international political economy of the Pacific Rim countries or security issues relevant to the maritime field, and · Maritime Environmental Policy, with an emphasis on global maritime environmental issues. RESPONSIBILITIES: · Teach foundation courses in political science; Develop courses relevant to: a) candidate’s areas of research and scholarly expertise, and b) the needs of the program in Global Studies and Maritime Affairs; · Engage in research and scholarship on issues relevant to global maritime policy; · Participate in: the maritime policy initiatives of the California Maritime Academy; academic advising; the GSMA summer training cruise on the Training Ship Golden Bear; DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Doctoral degree in appropriate field. Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but candidates who will complete the doctorate by the time of appointment are preferred; Strong motivation to participate in a new and growing degree program; Commitment to engage in course design, instruction, pedagogy, and scholarship on issues relevant to global maritime policy.
