[Department Website][APSA elisting(requires membership)] DEPARTMENT OF POLITICS, ADMINISTRATION AND JUSTICE COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES American Foreign Policy, International Relations Tenure Track The Division of Politics, Administration and Justice at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Political Science with teaching beginning in Fall, 2006. Position We seek applicants in the field of international relations with the ability to teach American foreign policy. We are particularly interested in those with interests in substantive areas such as global governance, human rights, immigration, terrorism, and environmental justice. Teaching assignment may also include a sophomore-level introductory methods and skills course for majors. Faculty members advise undergraduate students and serve on academic committees. Positive tenure and promotion decisions require excellent teaching; excellence in research, including publication in peer-reviewed outlets relevant to the fields above; and participation in the broader academic community Qualifications • A Ph.D. is required by the time of appointment. • Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated experience of effective teaching in ways that encourage active learning. • Must be broadly trained and capable of teaching both the B.A. and M.A. programs in political science. • Scholarly familiarity is necessary in one or more of the following areas: Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, or East Asia. • Successful candidates should be able to interact effectively with a wide and diverse range of students and colleagues. Rank and Salary The position is at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure-track. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary is subject to budgetary authorization and any California State University System faculty contract increases. Additional teaching in summer and intersession is often available.
