The Department of Political Science at Ohio University invites applications for a tenure track appointment at the rank of assistant professor in comparative politcs (or international relations)commencing September 2006. Candidates should have a Ph.D in hand and be prepared to offer a range of undergraduate and graduate level courses in comparative politics, with a thematic emphasis of nationalism, ethnic conflict, or identity politics. Regional specialization is open, but with a preference given to the former Soviet area, and Eastern Europe. Strong area competence is necessary. Those applying should show a strong committment to excellence in both research and teaching. Ohio University serves 20,000 students on a residential campus located in the rolling hills of southeastern Ohio. The Department of Political Science (www.ohiou.edu/pols)has 25 faculty members, 450 majors, and 80 graduate students. The successful candidate would also be involved in the university?s Contemporary History Institute. Ohio University is an EEO/AA employer.
