APSA Job Rumors Thread
It isn't autumn yet, but the summer discussion's getting long in the tooth. So, on the theory that APSA marks the kickoff of the job scramble, here's a new thread.

Elon University is yet again advertising an IR/Comparative position. This process has been going on for six years now. Something is definitely amiss at EU. I myself applied for this position six years ago and had an email exchange with the chair in which he practically offered me the job. I also had what I thought was a very good phone interview. However, in the end, it was a dead end. I'm not privy to what's going on, but caveat emptor.
The situation you describe may no doubt be the case, but I'd ask the blog moderators to think long and hard about allowing these sort of posts on the Rumor Mill. The usefulness of a site like this can get diluted quite quickly by comments that invite either other horror stories or recriminations from members of the departments themselves. It may be good information to have, but might not be right for this forum.
Just my two cents--and no, I'm in no way affiliated with Elon :-)
In an economy like this one, be careful about putting all your eggs in baskets marked "pending budgetary approval." Very few state systems are flush with cash right now, so plan accordingly: these lines can disappear.
VERY slow market this year. State hiring freezes are common this year, and some of the postings are DOA repeat searches. Looks like the hiring boom is over.
Moderators: I would like to suggest that you consolidate the many threads that are pretty much inactive into one place, and then create a new Fall 2008 rumors thread and big board. The site is getting too crowded with threads, and I think activity on the main topic (tenure track 2008 jobs) is very low. Some jobs are already at their application deadline, so it shouldn't be more than a few weeks before first interviews take place.

I heard at the bar that there should be more job listings coming down the pipe, including UC Davis and UCSD. Three cheers for more jobs!
UC-Davis has had a job posted for a while now. Is there another UC that you meant?

No news from the APSA?
Charlie Glaser is leaving Chicago and going to GW. There's some APSA news.
APSA was very quiet as far as job rumors this year. That's probably a bad sign for the job market.

If anyone knows a handy way to consolidate threads on blogger, please let us know.
Out intention was that this be the Fall 2008 thread, frankly.
Any news on Snidal and Oxford?
Snidal won't make a decision until probably late winter
