Tenure-track position to teach government and politics of Asia, introduction to political science and a subfield of international politics such as diplomacy, international law, peace studies, human rights or revolution, violence and terrorism. East Asian politics is required, preparation in south or central Asia would be a plus. Normal workload is 3 courses per semester and 3 hours research. Our new colleague will be expected to build a record of excellence in teaching, research, and service as required for tenure and promotion. International Relations and World Politics Carleton College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor position in international relations and world politics. This position will focus on the kinds of organizations, movements, and groups that cut across the old nation-state boundaries. Candidates should be prepared to teach topics that may include ethnicity and religion, identity in politics, ethnic conflict and terrorism; evaluate these themes on a comparative basis; and have area expertise that includes Southwest Asia (or even possibly Africa). A demonstrated ability to teach political science methodologies is highly desirable. Carleton is a highly selective liberal arts college of 1,900 students located 35 miles south of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. Normal teaching load is two courses per term during our three-term academic year, with one course release for each of first three years. Ph.D. or its imminent completion required.
