Union College

[Department Website][APSA elisting(requires membership)] The Department of Political Science at Union College invites applications for a tenure-track position beginning in September 2006. Candidates should have an expertise in the politics of East Asia with possible interest in some of the following areas: global inequities, role of culture, human rights, labor practices, international political economy or nuclear proliferation. This list is not exhaustive but simply indicative of the breadth of topics we would be interested in. The candidate must also be able to contribute to courses on Chinese and Japanese politics as well as the ability to teach a general Introduction to International Politics. We are especially interested in candidates who embrace challenging and innovative teaching methods. The normal load is six courses across a trimester system; however, faculty supervise senior thesis students which count for one or two courses of the yearly teaching load. The successful candidate will have clearly demonstrated research potential and have an agenda for future work, as well as some teaching experience. Union College is an equal opportunity employer and is strongly committed to increasing the diversity of its workforce. Candidates with a Ph.D. are preferred, though ABD applications within one year of completion will be considered. Please send a cover letter, resume, three letters of reference, a sample of scholarly work, teaching evaluations, and teaching materials to Richard Fox, East Asian Politics Search Committee, Department of Political Science, Union College, Schenectady, NY 12308. To receive full consideration applications must be received by October 10.
