[Department Website][APSA elisting(requires membership)] The Politics Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz, seeks applications for a tenure-track or tenured position in global politics with expertise in social and political conflict at the regional and international levels. The department has an interest in candidates whose research and expertise bridges international relations and comparative politics. Candidates should be knowledgeable of the social and political roots of conflict. Priority will be given to candidates with research experience in non-Western regions such as Africa, the Middle East, or Latin America. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable of both the Western tradition of international relations theory and critical approaches to it. Candidates must be prepared to teach in our Ph.D. program in addition to teaching undergraduate courses in the Department?s International Politics curriculum. We encourage both domestic and international candidates to apply. The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research and teaching. Minimum qualifications: Separate pools will be formed for the untenured and tenured applicants. Candidates will be judged with respect to their performance and promise in teaching, research, and/or other creative work. For persons applying for the untenured Assistant Professor position, a Ph.D. in Political Science or related field is preferred by June 30, 2006; must be in hand no later than June 30, 2007. For persons applying for the tenured Associate or Full Professor position, Ph.D. in Political Science or related field, outstanding record of excellence as a researcher, and evidence of excellence in teaching.
