California State University, Sacramento. Department of Government. Two (2) entry-level Assistant Professor positions, tenure track, beginning Fall, 2006. Ph.D. in political science or international relations required. Applicants in final stage of doctorate may be considered. Broad training in international relations with preference given to candidates who are able to teach in one or more of the following areas: American foreign policy, international organization, international law, security studies, as well as comparative politics courses in areas other than the Middle East, Latin American, and Africa. General duties: teaching; developing curriculum; advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels; Department, school, university committee work, and community service; and participation in scholarly and professional activities. Must address the needs of an ethnically diverse student population through course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement. Must have sufficiently broad background and flexibility to accept teaching assignments as required by the Department?s present and future needs, as well as be prepared to teach the introductory American government course or the research methods course. Should have a strong commitment to college teaching and a potential for scholarly achievement is expected. Location in the State Capital offers opportunities for research and consulting.
