Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University invites applications for the following full-time faculty positions to commence in the 2006-2007 academic year. All positions are open to applicants at the level of assistant or associate professor, and all positions are subject to final budgetary approval. Founded in 1856, Seton Hall University is the oldest and one of the largest diocesan universities in the nation. Seton Hall is actively developing a required, undergraduate Core Curriculum reflecting the University’s mission and identity. The Core Curriculum, which will be interdisciplinary and proficiencies-based, is anticipated to be offered initially in Fall 2007. Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations prepares graduate and undergraduate students for careers in international affairs and operates in an exclusive alliance with the United Nations Association of the United States of America. Taught by a distinguished faculty of scholars and practitioners, the School’s 600 students are drawn from more than 50 countries. Assistant or Associate Professor of Latin American Studies Specialists on Latin America that focus on social, economic, or political development are invited to apply. Applicants should have, or be close to completing, a Ph.D. in a social science field relevant to the study of development, with a specialization on Latin America. Ability to teach research methods will be a plus. Assistant or Associate Professor of Negotiation Strong ability to do research and teach graduate and undergraduate courses in negotiation is required. Game theory skills will be a plus. Regional expertise in the Middle East and professional experience in the field are especially welcomed. In addition, knowledge of one or more substantive negotiation areas, such as environment or trade negotiations, and additional capability for teaching research methods would be desirable. Ph.D. required for this position. Assistant or Associate Professor of International Law Applicants must specialize in international economic law, including trade law, European Union law, and public aspects of international financial law. Applicants must also be able to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in public international law and/or human rights. Applicants must possess a J.D.; a Ph.D. in a related discipline would be a plus. Applicants should also possess academic and/or professional experience in international economic law. Assistant or Associate Professor of International Organization Applicants should show promise or evidence of outstanding scholarly achievement in the study of international organizations and be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in theories of international relations. Ability to teach global health, human rights and/or research methods is desirable. Ph.D. required for this position. Applicants for all of the above positions should possess a terminal degree by the time of their appointment. Successful applicants will also demonstrate the potential to teach effectively in a professional school at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, all applicants should have strong research backgrounds or demonstrate substantial potential for performing important academic research in their field of specialization that has relevance to practice and policy.
