The Department of Political Science at Valparaiso University invites applications for a possible tenure-track position as Assistant Professor beginning in the fall of 2006. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory courses in International Relations and Comparative Politics with any regional focus except East Asia. Because the person may also teach interdisciplinary courses in comparative/international public policy and administration and related courses in a growing graduate program in International Commerce & Policy, some understanding of business or economics is desirable. Valparaiso University is a small, comprehensive university with 3600 students located in Northwest Indiana 45 minutes from Chicago. The Department has 5 full time faculty and over 100 majors. The Department is committed to community-based learning and operates The Community Research and Service Center and the Community Outreach Partnership Center (COPC). Candidates should have a Ph.D. or be ABD’s who have made substantial progress toward the completion of the degree. In addition to scholarly ability, the University places major emphasis on teaching and preference will be given to persons with teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
