Updates and Request Again

In response to requests from the communit, we've moved the "tally board" off the main page. Click here to access it.

• We ask again that people come forward with information about what candidates interviewed where. Given that many of the interview processes are now complete, we don't see any reason for those in the know not to provide relevant information.

• People are posting an increasing number of rumors about hires. If you are in a department that has made a hire, have accepted a job, or can point us towards verifiable (and public) evidence of a hire, please contact us so that we can post the relevant information. Remember that we redact and reject comments that name a hire. Even though we assume our commentators are being honest, we still worry enough about the possibility--and implications--of malfeasance that we will not allow unverifiable claims about hires to appear here.

Updates and a Request

We've recently been able to update some of the information on the master list.

We've also had requests from institutions soliciting jobs to remind you that there have been some relatively new job listings posted on the Job Solicitations thread. Go check them out.

Finally, a special note to those of you on the market this year. If you've accepted a job, please share the good news. You can let us know via email, and we will post the relevant information. We would make the same request of faculty at institutions: if you're institution has made a hire, please let us know. That way we can list that someone has taken a job.

Since you are, or the individual in question is, off the market, we don't see any problems with disseminating this information... and it will provide some public good to those still on the market.

We want to reiterate how incomplete the information presented here is. We have reason to believe that more candidates than listed interviewed at some schools, for example.

A Shiny New Job Rumors Thread

Post away. But look at the previous thread before asking questions that might be answered there. Keep in mind that the job environment is fairly fluid right now and that the tally board may be very out of date. Also, we'd appreciate lists of names for interviews, whether at places that interviewed some time ago or places that are still moving. This serves our general interest in complete information about the state of the market.
