The Institute of French Studies (IFS) at New York University seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor/Faculty Fellow with a specialty in French colonialism and/or immigration to begin September 1, 2006, pending administrative and budgetary approval. This initial appointment will be for one year, renewable twice, for a maximum tenure of three years. The IFS is an interdisciplinary center for research and teaching on modern France, 1750 to the present. The teaching load is two courses per semester, all at the M.A. or Ph.D. level. Candidates should have the Ph.D. in hand no later than June 1, 2006.
