U.S. AIR WAR COLLEGE, AIR UNIVERSITY MULTIPLE VISITING PROFESSORSHIPS The United States Air War College, located at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, seeks applications for multiple visiting professorships in the Department of International Security Studies and in the Department of Warfighting Strategy. Visiting professors are sought in the following areas: Department of International Security Studies: international relations and security issues: international political economy, defense, economics, international negotiation and conflict resolution, regional security studies including Russia, East Europe, Middle East, Central Asia, and Latin America. Department of Warfighting Strategy: military strategy, history of warfare, history of air power, and or space power. The one-year renewable term begins in July 2006. The Air War College offers a ten-month graduate level program leading to a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies. Air War College students go on to senior leader positions in the US Department of Defense and other federal government agencies as well as the military services of allied nations. The class normally includes approximately 260 military and civilian officials from the United States and 45 other nations. Visiting faculty will teach in core and elective courses and may participate in the regional security studies program. Responsibilities include some combination of teaching curriculum development and scholarly productivity. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D., and a record of scholarly publications. Graduate level teaching experience and/or equivalent professional experience required. For candidates in regional security, appropriate language skills and regional experience are required. These professorships are governed under the Intergovernmental Personnel Act (5 USC section 3371 through 3375, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 5, Chapter 334). Successful candidates must be permanent employees of their universities or other eligible institutions and be eligible to return to their universities upon completion of their Air War College appointment. Positions will remain open until filled with screening to begin immediately.
