NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY International Relations/Political Theory The Department of Political Science at Northern Illinois University invites applications for a tenure-track position, at the rank of Assistant Professor effective Fall 2006. The successful candidate will bridge the fields of International Relations and Political Theory by offering graduate and undergraduate courses in International Relations and the history of political philosophy (from Plato to the present). Significant graduate training is required in each major field but the Department is open to a broad range of scholarly interests. Among particular needs in international relations are IR theory, human rights, and international ethics. Evidence of excellence in teaching and the strong likelihood of a sustained publication record are expected. A Ph.D. in political science by the time of appointment is preferred. The Department of Political Science has 26 faculty members and offers B.A., B.S., M.A., M.P.A. and Ph.D. degrees. NIU is located 60 miles west of Chicago. It has an enrollment of more than 22,000, including a graduate student body of over 6,400.
