So are we allowed to ask who got these fellowships?
When will Mershon be sent out? Belfer?
Any news on Postdoc at James Madison College, MSU?
Has Yale actually made offers yet?
The Princeton/ Harvard post-doc (China and the World Program) offer letters have gone out.
Has anyone heard one way or another from Brookings on their pre-doctoral Foreign Policy Studies Research Fellowship?
I know someone who has been informed that he/she got the Brookings Foreign Policy pre-doc.
do you know when the Brookings notification went out?
I heard of the Brookings notification on Friday so, I assume, earlier last week. I believe they generally call successful applicants and send snail mail letters to all others.
Any word on who received them?
Who got the UCLA Global Fellows postdocs?
I heard that one of the Olins went to someone from Duke, but I don't know who.
Any news on Mershon?
Does anyone know when Mershon and Belfer will be announced?
Mershon called peoples' references a couple of weeks ago . . .
The last two years, Belfer notifications for successful applicants went out around the 2nd/3rd week of April.
did anyone ever receive an "official" rejection from olin?
Nope, I didn't receive an official rejection - which, ironically, makes me feel like even more of a reject.
Ah...google. Here is what that poster earlier was saying on the Olin (scroll down a few lines):
http://fds.duke.edu/db/aas/PoliticalScience/currentnews.html
No official Olin rejection either.... strange since someone (who sounded informed) posted earlier that rejections were to be mailed out a while ago. Oh! Closure!
last year olin rejections were sent in the last week of april.
Any idea why there's such a delay?
no, but it's normal for olin. y'all shouldn't be anxiously waiting. if you haven't heard by now, as I haven't, there is no chance that you will get it because they don't do second rounds.
I agree with the previous post. If Olin hasn't offered you an acceptance by now, then in all likelihood you aren't getting one. The rejection letter is merely a formality.
CISAC rejection letters have gone out.
My Olin rejection letter just arrived in the mail today. Nice, short--no complaints from me on how they handled it.
Can someone explain the difference (in terms of focus and atmosphere) between Olin and BCSIA at JFK? How do their fellowships compare?
Princeton CGG just announced their post doc fellows for next year

Does the 1:33PM post from April 15 imply that Belfer fellowship offers have been made?
I didn't take that out of it all. I think the inquirer was interested for next year. As far as I know, Belfer will be out this week.
Belfer is starting to make announcements, but it may depend on the program. I wouldn't assume all the decisions have been sent out.
For Belfer, I heard the Managing the Atom decisions have been released but the International Security Program decisions have not been released. Does anyone know?
On Belfer, I heard from someone who got a International Security Program fellowship.
What about CISAC? I see they have made their decisions? I've heard nothing.
re isp at belfer: any idea when they found out?
CISAC has made their decision. If you didn't receive an acceptance by now, you aren't going to.
Belfer's ISP has sent out rejection letters via both e-mail and snail mail.
Has anyone actually gotten an email rejection from Belfer?
Nobody I know has received an email rejection...yet.
someone I know has received an email rejection from Belfer, saying it has also been sent via snail mail. it was isp as far as i know.
what of belfer's program on intrastate conflict, have they gone out too?
Belfer acceptances have gone out. Any idea on differences between Belfer and other comparable postdocs, esp. as they're perceived regarding acedemic job market and non-academic jobs?
I haven't heard anything (email, snail, or otherwise) from Belfer isp or intrastate. Cisac rejection did, however, arrive last week.
Regarding Olin v. Belfer, Olin is generally more hands off. The only obligation is the weekly seminar. Olin is obviously a bit more coherent as it is both smaller and more narrowly focused. There are lots of people who have done both, or at least interacted with one while at the other...
Which Belfer Acceptances have gone out? MTA? Intrastate? ISP? All?
I understand thay Belfer is sending offers out by carrier pigeon.
I heard that Belfer ISP fellowships that are not associated with one of the other programs have not been released.
I have received a rejection from Belfer ISP via e-mail. My project was not associated with the other programs.
Any new Belfer news?
Any Belfer news? Anyone?
my news is no news. still...
belfer acceptances have been sent. i assume rejections too; at least isp.
Any idea about how many of the belfers or the olins manage to extend for another year? e.g., if u're a belfer this year, u get an olin the next or visa versa... i'm told there will be no more olins next year. so can one extend a belfer if one doesn't get a job in the meantime?
No more Olins next year? Now that's a juicy rumor. What's your source? How reliable do you estimate it is?
As to your question, extensions at Belfer seem totally program-dependent. MTA and PIC are loaded and can extend people; ISP is a disaster and seems only to offer moneyless extensions. Belfer-Olin crossovers are rare.
Yes, please provide some sort of tag about where the information comes from (e.g., a cousin of a friend of an acquaintance of someone in the know). Unless that would give up your super secret identity, of course.
The Olin rumor would make sense, given the foundation's demise. But there's been alot of so-so information here from the semi-attached and semi-informed.
I can't quite reveal my sources b/c I'll reveal myself too :)
but you could see a similar information about the Olin Foundation on the Yale site below. It says "Due to the closure of the John M. Olin Foundation, ISS will not offer this program in coming years."
ttp://www.yale.edu/iss/funding_pg.html
Fair enough. But keep in mind that Rosen sent out a letter this year soliciting applications, and said therein that "I wish to point out that although the Olin Foundation closed its doors in fall 2005, the Olin Institute is continuing and, as in the past, we are offering fellowships at the pre- and postdoctoral levels."
I don't know what this means about future years. But Yale's program is distinct, so even if they close up shop the Harvard Olin program may continue.
I did not get any response from BCSIA. Am I the only one?
Has anyone still not heard from Belfer?
to clarify on belfer, for sole isp offers some rejections were sent but offers were not. that should happen this week. if you haven't heard yet you are still in the mix
I heard some sole ISP acceptances were sent but others were not. Does anyone know if that is true?
It seems that first round offers were sent; there may be a second round depending on whether the first round offers are accepted or rejected.
I know someone who received an ISP acceptance, but I also know people who have not heard yet either way.
All of Belfer's programs (ISP, MTA, ICP) have decided.
...does the above comment mean that recipients have already been notified, or that offers have been decided and recipients will be notified next week?
recipients have been notified. more offers will only be made if some of the first round offers are rejected. if you have not heard you are probably on the wait list.
I got an offer for Belfer ISP via email Thursday. Have accepted.
I also got a Belfer offer via e-mail last week. The message indicates there is a waitlist they will turn to if offers are rejected.
Belfer also offered me a fellowship last week via e-mail. The message indicates there is a wait list they will soon turn to.
Isn't that a little odd - that Belfer would say in an acceptance e-mail that they are about to go to the waitlist? Why would they write that? How is that relevant to the person they've just offered a place to?
It might be relevant in the sense of, "Please let us know as soon as possible if you will be able to join us. If you are unable to accept the fellowship, there is a waitlist of others to whom we would like to offer the position."
Jeff Timmons was offered and accepted at UCLA Global Fellows Postdoc.
whatever happened with Mershon?
Does anyone know if Belfer actually informs people that they are on a waiting list; or does one just guess it but virtue of not having received either a positive or negative response?
I would guess if you have not yet heard from Belfer you are on the waitlist. Has anyone actually heard that they are "on" a waitlist?
What's going on with Mershon?
I was wondering the same thing. When does Mershon normally notify applicants?
I declined Belfer, so hopefully at least one person will hear good news soon.
I received a rejection letter from mershon, dated april 20
Has anyone else heard from Mershon?
Just Got my rejection from Mershon. Postmarked April 25.
Has anyone got or heard of an acceptance from Mershon?
Has anyone heard from USIP on Peace Scholar Fellowship?
I'm pretty sure that USIP won't be out for about another month.
Just got a rejection from Belfer, which I take to mean the wait list is either thinned out or finished. My hat's off to those who landed it. Also, sincere thanks to places that took the time to write reject letters, esp. prompt ones. I never thought I would find civil treatment remarkable...
I got a rejection from Belfer yesterday as well. I take that to mean that they have completed their process.
Are these latest round of Belfer rejections coming via snail mail or email?
MIT has some pre-/postdoc info (for Belfer and Brookings) listed on their website:

Anyone have any information on the U Chicago post-doc? When they intend on deciding?
IAS School of Social Science Scholars in Residence Awards
Each year, the School of Social Science at the Institute for Advanced
Study in Princeton, NJ, invites fifteen to twenty scholars to be in
residence for the full academic year to pursue their own research.
The School welcomes applications in economics, political science,
law, psychology, sociology and anthropology. It encourages social
scientific work with an historical and humanistic bent and also
entertains applications in history, philosophy, literary criticism,
literature and linguistics. Each year there is a general thematic
focus that provides common ground for roughly half the scholars; for
2007-2008 the focus will be The Rule of Law Under Pressure. The
application deadline is November 15, 2006. Applications must be
submitted through the Institute's online application system, which
can be found, along with more information, at www.sss.ias.edu/
applications.

Who got the Harvard Academy Scholars Postdoc?
The list of Academy scholars is not out yet, but I do know that no political scientists will be among the new scholars next year - I know a few are coming to do their second year. Only four new scholars were selected - none from political science.
Any information on James Madison College of MSU?
Answer: I heard U Chicago sent rejection letters and gave an offer to a candidate.
